What is an Online Program?

Oakland University offers a growing number of online programs that range from partially to 100% online. There are many different definitions of what constitutes an online program. The following will help you understand how online learning is defined at Oakland University:

完全在线
A program where all courses needed to earn the degree are delivered 100% online. In these programs, students never have to come to Oakland University's campus. There may still be synchronous class meetings, experiential learning components and even some required in-person courses or meetings.

If any part of a 100% online course requires the student to be in-person, an online or ‘local to the student’ alternative will be made available.
同义词: 100% online, Distance education, Fully at a distance, Online program

PARTIALLY ONLINE
If a program is offered partially online, that means that there is some combination of online and on-campus coursework. A partially online program at Oakland University consists of 50-99% of the courses needed to earn the degree being offered online.
同义词: Hybrid, Blended, Primarily online, Partially at a distance

完全HYFLEX
A program where all courses needed to earn the degree are delivered in the HyFlex format.
A HyFlex course gives the student the choice to attend either in-person or synchronously online, providing students with flexibility. This means that students could take the course fully online or they could come to campus for every session, treating it as a regular in-person course. 另外, they could do a mix, where they come in-person at times, and join online at other times.

PARTIALLY HYFLEX
If a program is offered partially HyFlex, that means that there is some combination of online and on-campus coursework. A partially HyFlex program at Oakland University consists of 50-99% of the courses needed to earn the degree being offered HyFlex.
